This song was written for the 
Broadway play "Cabaret" in 1966
by Fred Ebb who wrote the lyrics and John Kander composed the music.
 It takes place in a German beer garden but there is NO
indication that anything like this was sung by the nazi's.
This song, though, captures the inspiration and common
feeling that prevaded Germany before and into Hitler's reign.
